"Vancouver employees will receive a 3.3 percent pay increase next year.

The city council approved cost-of-living adjustments for nonunion employees without comment Monday night.

The council typically approves raises to match those given to workers represented by unions."

Reasonable and customary. That percentage is not at all out of line.

It's a lot more complicated that that karma; much of this is driven m long term contractual requirements and committments that ALL Cities have to work under. Many times these raises are not discretionary or optional, but do allow Council to vote to approve a current rate increase. That goes into long term budgeting and planning by the City, which is no simple subject to discuss either.

I just want to make sure that we stay in the realm of what's really happening on these things, so we don't spin ourselves into butter over minutae...

Thanks Chief, that was my point but I put it into terms that some folks will understand instead of the tech. stuff. Still where is that raise?

I wanted to make sure that all of us had a current grasp of eocnomic and many other things going on with the Board of Clark County Comissioners and City of Vancouver.
