As we get new members, I'd like this sticky to be the place for them to come and say "Heddo", and tell us a little about themselves.

OK, I'll start. I've lived here in Cascade Park with my wife since we moved here from Charlotte, North Carolina in 1998. We've made some major renovations to this house, and turned tit into our own, because I assured my wife that once we got here, we were never moving agian.

I served 20 years on Active Duty in the United States Navy, and retired in 1995 as a Senior Chief Petty Officer (E-8). I worked as an Aviation Boatswain's Mate, "E", Aircraft Launch and Recovery Equipmentman. That means I ran the steam catapult that shoot the airplanes airborne, as well as the arresting gear that catches them on the other end....the absolute best fun to be had on the Planet!

I graduated from Western Culinary Institute in 2003, with a Medallion and a 4.0 GPA, and I've got my Associates Degree in Culinary Science with an endorsement from Le Cordon Bleu, Paris. Why did I decide to go head to head with a bunch of twenty-somethings at WCI at the age of 48?? Because I could, and I had my GI Bill to help. If you need an endorsement on my cooking, ask psumom about my raspberry jelly...

I love to cook, and I'm constantly experimenting with food on the grill, and in the smoker. I also garden extensively, read everything in site, help my wife with data entry for our Bookkeeping bidnez, and I'm raising a pair of female ferrets (Miss Demeanor and Mippsey). I have traveled the world, all Seven Seas, and toured the Far East. I've sampled food in many strange and exotic foreign lands, and have enjoyed sampling many assorted fine wines and the occasional rare spirit..

I studied English for four years in High school under the instruction of Miss Mary Boyce, God rest her soul. She had retired as a College Professor, in order to teach high school English, and run the student paper. She made an enormous impression on me, and gave me a real appreciation for written words. She was one of a lot of very good teachers who managed to hammer some sense into my thick skull, and gave me some of the tools that I'm using to write this, right now.

My wife says I'm a bit of a "renaissance man" I take that to mean that I know a little about a lot of things, usually just enough to be dangerous...
