The policy and public outreach coordinator leads policy initiatives to make the pipeline safety program more effective, as well as, more accessible and understandable to the public. The current focus for this position is developing a program to promote underground facility damage prevention consistent with federal requirements, and to create outreach and education programs regarding damage prevention. The coordinator also: leads or participates in inter-agency projects and represents the UTC to other governmental agencies, local governments and external organizations; analyzes state and federal legislation as well as rule proposals by the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration for impact on the program and provides policy advice to the program director.
