I was sitting here early this morning, minding my own business and enjoying my morning paper and coffee, when I heard one of the cats come in through the kitty door. A few moments later, our #2 cat Bowie saunters into the living room with something in his mouth. He has a fetish for those fuzzy plastic mice with a leather tail, that rattle when he bats them. We have about a dozen of them laying around in different colors because the ferrets like them too. He started to bat it around, and when it ran, I realized we had a problem...
Once again, the fuzzy dimwit has either brought his toys in to play out of the rain, or took pity on a poor homeless mouse and brought it in to get warm. Whatever the reason, I have to go to Freddy's this morning for a new pair of mousetraps, as we now have a live rodent scurrying around under the TV. I considered letting the ferrets loose to find it, but I really don't want to give them a taste for raw meat, so more effective lethal means are indicated...
Of course I could do nothing, in which case the odds say I'll find said mouse at room temperature in the middle of the dining room floor within the next 24-48 hours. Whether it's eviscerated or not will determine who caught it. If #1 cat gets it, we'll find it with no head. If Bowie leaves it, it will be intact, but the implied the message will be "I'm done with this, and you may dispose of it now."
Anyone looking for a new cat for Christmas??
;D
