Test of an e-mail I sent to the Editor Emeritus himself this morning, based on his column that I will cover separately...
QUOTE
It's not "Naysayer".
It's "Extremely Well Informed Naysayer".
Please get it right the next time.

Here is te answer I just got from Tom, and the reply I sent back.

Yes Tom, I am very sure. I happen to be a Retired Navy Veteran, a homeowner, and a taxpayer. I actually know how to read something other than the Columbian, and I am doing my homework on a daily basis on things like light rail and the Boise Cascade Development.
I think "Naysayer" is a badge of pride in this town, especially considering the complete lack of any significant Investigative Reporting, or real Journalism within the City of Vancouver.
Game on, Editor Emeritus. If you want to stick to that ridiculous poll as proof of the viability of Light Rail, then you can wear the ridicule I will continue to heap on you for doing it.
Let's see who ends up looking worse: the Naysayer and his well-documented facts, or the Editor Emeritus and his Poll. I'l be finding out as soon as your column goes up online. If it doesn't, I will hand type it so I can share your condescending arrogance with my fellow taxpayers.
Happy New Year Tom!

We ain't done yet Boys and Girls....I think I struck a chord with this one, or he wouldn't be answering at all.

Well then Tom, you might try reporting on a Poll that makes some sense, because the poll you are touting makes no more sense than asking a five year old if he wants a Pony for Christmas.
Any five year old would, as long as you don't mention that all of his allowance will go to feed it, and all of his time spent cleaning the stable so his friends can ride it. T
he real news about that "Poll" was how stupid it was to conduct it at all, how poorly worded the questions were, the fact they ignored anything about the costs of Light Rail, as well as the fact that Pollard had someone try and shop it to your Editor, Lou Brancaccio. Good thing Lou came clean about that, or nobody would have been any the wiser.
Besides, the poll was conducted via telephone of 400 likely voters. There are 400,000 Registered Voters in the County, so the poll you are so enamoured with isn't even a decent sized sampling.
I mentioned my service as a retired United States Navy Senior Chief Petty Officer, (ABECS(AW), USN, (Ret))along with being a Homeowner and a Taxpayer, because those three things give me some authority to have a say on how my tax dollars get spent, and I resent the hell out of being marginalized by some pompous "Editor Emeritus" as merely some jackass who doesn't know anything other than how to say "NO".
Here's some food for thought Tom: If you want to have a discussion about Light Rail, then tell me exactly what it is that you want to build, provide me an estimate of how much of my tax dollars will be needed, along with some idea of how I am expected to pay for it, and we can talk.
But as long as I keep seeing these constant references to "Light Rail" with no details provided, and repeated citations of that riduculous poll that Mayor Pollard commissioned in his capacity on the Columbia Crossing Project, you may take it to the bank that I will continue to be an "Extremenly Well Informed Naysayer", or a "Boo Bird" , or whatever other cute little drogatory name you choose to use to dodge the real issues at the heart of the matter.
For the record Tom, I don't scare easily and you cannot intimidate me. I have over 100,000 arrested landings under my belt on five different aircraft carriers; I've been around the world several times, and personally visited a few of the remaining Seven Wonders along with most of the Countries in the World that are located next to deep water.. I have attended a State Fair, several County Fairs, one formal Stag Party, a sheep shearing, a hog butchering, and I even own a few real neckties; and with all of that under my belt, I have never seen a bigger collection of people who thought it was OK to trash, vilify, ignore, and generally marginalize taxpayers, as I have found right here in Vancouver.
As to lightening up, the problem we have in this town is that too many people have lightened up, disengaged, and don't even bother to try and become informed. I have no intention of lightening up on anything Tom. I intend to be as loud, vocal and public about these issues as I possibly can, because the newspaper here in America's Vancouver is only good for about one thing; lining the pan of my ferrets' cage, and they take great pleasure in using the Columbian's Editorial page to do their bidnez. At least I can recycle the Columbian for something useful.
Trust me Tom, I'm only getting started.

Tom is a case of a liar figuring when the figures don't lie.
