Many thanks to Mary White at the City of Vancouver for graciously providing me with a copy of the Optimist Club's latest newslaetter. This even includes a couple of pictures of the Celebrity Judges who had a very tough job on their hands in selecting winners from so much talent.

First Place winners in each category were Patricia Costello, for her chocolate raspberry truffle torte, (cakes); Kyle Prichard for his apple pie (pies); and Patricia Costello for her fall harvest squares (cookies).
After the judges sampled the other categories the public was then invited to sample any item that took their fancy. THAT WAS A BIG HIT!!! There were more than 2,000 visitors to our tent, with dozens asking for our brochure about the club, and several asked for application forms.
Without the help of a large number of club members, this event could have been a disaster. Special thank you to Donna Rude who ran the spreadsheets and kept track of every entry; even when the computer decided to gobble up page two when she printed out the various lists, her cross referencing saved the day. Thank you to Kim Cozzy and Denise Pollock for running the registration table, with Liaim Clirehugh doing double duty as a judge and handing out pens and pins. John Cozzi helped pull all the score cards together and get them sorted, while Art and Tina Ramos were everywhere, as was Kay Johnston, Paul and Eva West, Rod Pollock, Ted Gathe as a celebrity judge, Don Heavirland our photographer, and Patty Silver who stopped by and filled out the winner’s certificates.
Mary informs me that the recipes and pictures of the winning entries will be up at the City's website as soon as the information can be processed and posted.
