Big box galore. I already think it's a shame how you have to drive to get from Michaels to Barnes and Noble. Sounds like this will make it even worse.

yep. Forget foot traffic; it's bad enough as it is right now, and I agree, this doesn't sound like much of an improvement.

Let's not forget about the light rail that Hayden Island is screaming for, and where that would fit into Jantzen Beach. The other thing that's still pendig is the riverfront development on both sides of the I-5 bridges. Depending on where the final bridge alignment goes will impact one or the other, if not both sites; there has to be room for staging equipment on the Oregon side too...

If anything, this plan is premature ahead of any deicision from the CRCP.

Worth keeping an eye on...

well I'm just waiting for the people who move into "Gramor Estates" to start screaming about all the July 4th celebration or all the nice lights from the bridge or Jantzen beach.

If they do actually get that old mall redeveloped, it will just give Clark County's finest citizens more reason to shop over there and not shop here.

Wondering if this happens, could the City of Vancouver find a way to raise the B and O tax on area business to make up for the shortfall from taxes on retail sales?

That question needs to be directed to Identity Clark County WB, and don't think they wouldn't pull out all the stops to shoot that idea down in flames as soon as they could...

Add to that all the losses the County, La Center and many other towns are claiming they are going to lose from the new Casino "At the Junction.." that this might be a county wide idea also.

Did you get a good look at what they have planned for Hayden Islan/Delta Park?? No wonder this will take five years to build...

:-) I don't want to guess? The Port of Portland is going to have to face the Columbia RIver Keeper, Portland Environmental coalitions and many other factions related to the Vancouver Lake Lowlands that do have portland connections to the pacific flyway is it called?
