Mixing politics with religion has led to the extreme illness of the Republican Party. Self righteousness has terrible consequences...
I remember the time when many in my family and my public school teachers were Republicans. No longer.
Hopefully the GOP with rediscover its conservative roots.

Fox is reporting that Senator Larry Craig's career as a US Senator is all over but for the shouting. The Senior Republican Senate Leadership met privately with Craig, and told him that if he did not resign immediately, three things would happen:
1. The Senatorial Reelection Committee would immediately withdraw all of Craig's funding, and would immediately begin recruiting and funding a replacement to run against him.
2. The Senate Republican Leadership would publically denounce him, and call for him to resign.
3. The RNC would follow suit, denounce Craig in public, and call for him to resign.
In other words, they told Craig that if he didn't jump out of the window, they were going to push him.
In recognition of his 27 years in Congress, Craig is being allowed to announce his immediate resignation from the US Senate sometime tomorrow afternoon in the Boise area.
I think that there are two key words at play in all of this: "Mark Foley". After the ass-kicking the Republicans took over Foley in 2006, they are going to be lancing any more boils as soon as they appear, rather than letting them fester at the expense of the Party.
I think the next guy who needs to get the heave-ho is Alaska Senator Ted Stevens. The FBI raided his offices not long ago, and he's had a cloud of scandal hanging over his head for a long time too.

Well lets see what else they come up with to replace Senator Stevens and Craig..
May be we'll finally see some new blood in the sharkfest of the Senate.

<bump> This was an interesting article.. Though its from Idaho but he is one of the most influential Republican senators in the Pacific NW above Senator Stevens of Alaska who is in his own scandals right now.
Looks like four more gay men are going to go on record and put their name on Senator Craig from Idaho's list that he made passes and other stuff
