Bravo Zulu (a navy term for WELL DONE) to all who worked for, and those who voted to, defeat the Port of Vancouver’s Outrageous 132% Property Tax Increase.

Not even more than a $100,000 (donations by many living outside the Port Districts) anti voter campaign, last minute port contractual agreements with potential new tenants (contingent upon the passage of the 132% property tax increase) or the Columbian’s refusal or unwillingness to report all the facts surrounding the Port’s attempt to by-pass the voters, could silence the voter. Thank the heavens for Emails. It got our message out.

It was interesting to see current council members, Larry Smith and Dan Tonkovich, being interviewed on CCTV stressing the importance of communicating with and listening to the voters before increasing taxes. Where were these guys when the voter were taken to court twice to negate authentic and sufficient Petition Signature asking for the right to vote on building the Peoples Hotel of Vancouver with our hard earned tax dollars.

For those of you who voted NO on Proposition 1, it is not yet time to sit back and rest on our laurels. We must use the momentum we have generated to vote in November the Tax and Spend politicians (Councilmen Larry Smith & Dan Tonkovich and Port Commissioner Arch Miller along with other local/state politician who think everyday is open season for Picking our Pockets), out of office. We must also be alert to the fact that the port may after the dust settles attempt to impose another tax increase or go through the back door to pick our pockets. I think the voters has sent a strong message that says:

WE DESERVE THE RIGHT TO BE REPRESENTED, NOT DICTATED TO!!!!!!.
.
Please send this to all on your email list and forward to me any email address that would like to be kept advised on issues surrounding the November elections the Columbian won’t tell you.

Again, Bravo Zulu
