Or rent the sod cutter, and compost the debris...

That is to much work Chief, ya know folks want the easy way to do it. A couple shots of round up a week apart and then just toss out the new grass seeds and water well.

Why does this sound like a piece from the Sierra Club?

The Sierra Club would have a fit if you talked about using Roundup!! But ya know some of us know how to use the chemicals right!! ;)

If you haven't got your grass seed down you might be a little late!!

Actually we are making plans for the Neighborhood de-thatching and aerating machine rentals. It costs about $90 to rent both machines for five hours down at Parkrose Hardware, and in that time we just do as many people's lawns as want to chip in on the cost, and do everyone at the same time.
Just mow the lawn afterwards to pick up all of the debris, and off to the compost pile with all of it; then you're ready for a couple of hundred pounds of dolemite limestone in the drop spreader. The areator holes make sure it gets deep into the soil where it will do the most good.

Scratchin' my head here Chief?? Why aren't you do this in the spring??? Don't over do the lime as it will burn the lawn, also.

Now I know what Chief has up his sleeve.. :-) isn't he a "Neighborhood Activist?"
Should figure a way to move over next to him and be a nice neighbor.. I love awesome neighbors like this fellow.

He's one of a kind but timing is important and know when and why is the key to a green yard.
