Come on here, this is a little fishy if you ask me?? Destroying MJ and they got stuck??? How about some drug test for these guys??? ::)

If you aren't laughing at this and how comical this is, someone send this to Dave and really get these folks on the map!!! What is even funnier is the name Drano Lake and destroying MJ???? Did the lightbulb turn on here??? :D ;) :D

Especially when the columbian article said 70 people needed to rescue them..

Sounds like some people went to a party and didn't get caught.

Have you never heard of Drano Lake?? It has some incredible fishing when the salmon are running...

This story just reinforces the need to be prepared for anything, before you launch into the forests around here anywhere. Even the professionals can get lost...

On either side of the Gorge, the best way out is usually not down due to the way the Gorge was carved out. Most if not all ways down that work in the Gorge have trails. The rest have cliffs, water falls and drop offs.

In other areas of Western Washington the problem can be vast swampy areas near creeks. Its a good idea to be cautious when dropping into these areas as well.

Many survival manuals are written giving the impression you just need to reach a creek or stream and follow it out. Could be, but it is a good idea to use caution and perhaps parallel those waterways from a distance where you can walk on solid dirt.

Smart idea would have been to do a fly over and use topographic maps to create a plan of attack.

Just glad to know every one is safe and ready to live to fight another MJ bust.

With Channel 2 having two copters, Channel 8, 6, and 12 each having one, the coast guard, flightcraft, and the army who does that type of rescue (isn't there a rescue unit that does that from Portland?)

there has to be one helicopter that would have loved that exclusive..

Oh yes, Washington/Clark County news doesn't matter to the Portland media conglomerate unless they get pulled in front of the FCC for license renewal and have to show what kind of community good they do.

Oh well.. Here comes another ET exclusive on Paris Hilton. <sigh>
