Please pass this on. We need to send a strong message to the tax and spend Politicians. And Please vote against any politician in the primary who supports tax increases.

Subject: Port Math
I sent the following e-mail to The columbian and copied you from an address list of Willard Carroll's. Yours came back (I instead of L).
Congratulations to the port officials for their development of a new branch of mathematics, and to Val Ogden and the editorial board of The columbian for mastering it so quickly! (C9 and C10 of the July 29th columbian). Might I suggest naming it Fraudology as Numerology and Chaos Theory have already been taken!
My 2007 port tax was $104.31 on a total bill of $3311.29. That is 3.15%. Ignoring the library bond and assuming that my assessment wont increase, even though it has increased 30.3% since 2005 (the port proponents ignore this), the new port tax of $243.54 will raise the total to $3442.52 and that is 7.075%.
The figure 3% only going to 4% was quoted twice. My property tax bill has to go to $6088.50 to hold the port portion at 4%. The formula by the old math is .04X=243.54, X=243.54/.04 or 6088.5 (Note to the port officials: This is algebra and you'll study this when you get to middle school!)
How can the port manage our money when they can't even count it?

Note to editor: Publish as is or don't publish at all. I'm tired of being made to look like a fool. I can do that all by myself!
