It was brought to may attention today that one of our members was upset that her article had been summarily removed without an explanation. It was an article on Camp Bonneville that I responded to right after it had been posted, so I was quite familiar with it. I searched through her comments, and my comments, to see what had happened, and sure enough, that article is no longer here.
We have a policy here at Clarkblog, that we will not delete articles, comments, memberships, or anything else that gets posted here that is in accordance with the posting guidelines. We may be forced to edit offensive content if it ever becomes an issue, but we will not delete anything. This incident is particularly troubling because if it was deleted by a Moderator, there should be a record of it in the Moderation Logs. There is no such record.
I don't know what happened, but I suspect that the server crew quietly restored a file from backup, without saying anything, and it overwrote the article with backup data from the night before. We just went through a major hard drive failure on our server, and they are transferring to a new server. This is athe only plausible explanation I can come up with and I will ask Louis to pursue it through his channels.
I want to apologise to karma, the member who brought this to my attention. We will never (willingly) delete anything here, or censor what anyone says, as long as your postings comply with our guidelines. The only way I can make this better is to give you my word that it wasn't intentional, we will never do such a thing as a matter of policy, and I hope you will repost the comments that were somehow deleted.
Thanks for your understanding and support!
