Contamination closes Klineline Pond, again please know what you are swimming in and if you know Salmon Creek is on the WA State's worst water body's list, do you honestly think it's safe to swim in??

We went through the same thing with Battleground Lake a couple of years ago. Where is this sewage coming from?? You don't get these kinds of fecal bacteria levels naturally...

Oh Chief, if you haven't been down there it's worth the trip to see the folks that flock to this place on a hot day!! Back in the late 1960 we knew not to swim there due to the cow farms up stream but now you need to add all the up stream septic tanks into the mix!! Ya know like Burnt Bridge Creek area where the county and city collected all this money and didn't clean up the problems?? Another creek not to swim in like Vancouver Lake or the mighty Columbia River?? One should just take some time and read about how polluted these are??

I think that perhaps we have a problem then with the standards for leach beds for septic systems then. When we lived in North Carolina, just about everyone had a septic tank with a leach field for the overflow grey water. There are stringent "percolation" tests that the developer must conduct in order to ensure that the system works properly, to avoid the problems you are describing. A properly built (and maintained) septic system should not leach sewage into the local watershed. If it does, that indicates a problem with either the system itself (clogged and in need of maintenance) or that the leach bed was improperly constructed in the first place.

Its known to the locals not to swim in Burnt Bridge Creek, (Think where most of Vancouver sentiments go?) The Big River, Vancouver Lake (*eek*) floating blooms from where we dump the sewage from Vancouver and Ridgefield/BattleGround/Woodland/LaCenter via Lewis River.. ) Battle Ground Lake and some many fine other examples of what really needs to be listed as Superfund sites.

The the America's Vancouver could get off the rope and go out there to take care of this problem for good. Maybe it might give him a good photo op?

Salomn Creek which feed the Klineline pond area is on the WA State list of polluted waterways. We know in the 1070's how bad this was and nothing has changed?
