By Bryan Bissell

The gubernatorial campaign gained a little more clarity this afternoon when Gov. Chris Gregoire's campaign announced that Gregoire has agreed to participate in five debates across the state this fall. The exact times and dates are still up in the air, but Gregoire will tentatively participate in two debates in Seattle, one in Tacoma, one in Yakima, and one in Spokane

Chris Mulick of the Tri-City Herald reports that Republican Dino Rossi had previously agreed to three of the debates, the ones in Yakima, Spokane and the first Seattle forum as well as another Seattle debate not on Gregoire's list.

"The governor looks forward to the debates and the substantive discussions that will take place around the issues that people care about most," said Gregoire communications director Debra Carnes in a press release. "We want to ensure the debates provide for comprehensive, in-depth discussion on critical issues, as opposed to ones that value breadth over depth.

See the proposed debate schedule below.

Did someone miss a debate in one of the biggest counties and communities in the state?

shh.. I do not know if any of those debates will be televised will they?

Why did they not schedule of them for the 'couv?

They didn't schedule one here, because nobody wants to pay for using the Hilton...

Maybe we could get Paris Hilton to come debate. That would be "HOT"

DawgFan: Nah, How about the Huskies versus Cougars? Now that would draw attention?

Now to the discussion:

Are you serious that this is the only "reason?" They could have not rented out Hudson's Bay High School or one of the other big high school gymnasiums? Or some other place? There are so many places I could think of, it just burns my turnip wheel??

Would you not like to ask each of the candidates, a question about the Columbia River Crossing?

No, I think this is serious defunct in Brain power here. If Yakima and Spokane can get one of those speaking engagements, I seriously doubt any of the campaigns are worth my personal vote if they cannot come down here and do a serious debate on Clark County issues that have serious components like how are you going to pay for light rail if the voters vote it down. Will the state pick up the local match on that?

There are so many questions to you all, I think a few well placed phone calls by people reading this blog should be in order.

Well, the Campaigns aren't going to pay for the costs of a debate; Gregoire because she doesn't have to, and Rossi because there are so many Democrats down here. Lacking any other local sponsors who normally pay for these things, (like a local newspaper for example) and no local television station either, once again SW Washington is left in the dark.

There is simply too little to be gained by either campaign if they spend scarce money down here in Vantucky, as opposed to the huge media base in Pugetopolis.

<growls through his jowls..>

So only because they think this is some small potatoes, Portland Infestation of population and probably one of the four biggest cities in the state they won't even "find a way?"

In Vancouver, we have some of the biggest donors to both parties here?

<goes back to grumbling.....>
