Citing signs of progress on the negotiating front, the Port of Vancouver decided Tuesday to once again to hold off on an eminent domain proposal targeting the land of an area farming family.
The Port of Vancouver commissioners voted 3-0 to table the proposal until their Oct. 14 meeting. The board took a similar action at its May 27 meeting.
Several agencies have been negotiating with the Colf family to acquire land for the Columbia River channel-deepening project. A resolution to acquire the property through eminent domain — an agency option when negotiations fail — was on the commissioners’ agenda Tuesday morning. But that step may not be necessary, port officials said.
“The parties are continuing to try to work out an amicable solution,” said Larry Paulson, executive director of the Port of Vancouver.

I predict that this will never go to Eminent Domain, because the Colf Family will decide they want the money instead.
