Thanks for putting that up. It was hear him on the show..

But one of the things I would like to hear him speak on is a multitude of transportation issues related to eastern Clark County. He says a lot that he's for "limited government" that might go for some republican and libertarian constituencies.

Both for YEARS, there has has been a lack of capital spending and transportation dollars for Washougal, Camas, Eastern Vancouver and Orchards areas. Some thing I feel that he is going to need to address to a certain minority voter like myself is, how is he going to fight to bring home the bacon to his district to take care of much needed projects on the outer skirts of Vancouver.

Understand that he will have a no new taxes pledge and won't vote to raise them, so without being and using simplistic terms that most of the politicians from our and other areas use without getting into specifics, how is he going to get the money and projects away from Seattle Lawmakers and Olympia insiders from Puget Sound, where is the bacon.

Honestly before the general election, I need this question answer for me to vote for either three of these candidates. From Tim, Jim or Joseph?? I don't want general, wishy washy answers or scream into the camera answers.

I would ask this question of 15th, 17th, 49th or 18th legislators.. Folks its time to step up the constituent rhetoric and get your personal questions answers, so you can be an effective and informed voter..

Yes, Joseph, I am one of your voters your going to have to honestly and effectively prove your the best candidate for the job in Olympia instead of some general platform platitudes or local news media fast ones. I am one of the people amongst near 100,000 people in Eatern, North and Northeast Clark county you going to have to do a hard sell on.

Benton can only protect or guide you so far, now you have to show us what your made of during this election and out door bell, out smart and in general, out do Tim Probst in the general election or pass by sleepy Jim at the wheels in the primary.

Good Luck to you and hope you do your darndest to win.

I will answer whatever specific questions you have. I am grateful for your interests and suggestions. In regards to what I am going to do for you I am backing two initiatives already, I1030 and I985.

I-985 will reduce traffic congestion by using existing public resources more effectively. It opens carpool lanes to everyone during non-peak hours, requires local governments to synchronize traffic lights on heavily-traveled arterials and streets, and increases roadside assistance funding to clear out accidents faster with the implementation overseen by the State Auditor.

These policies are funded by taxes and charges we already pay: 15% of vehicle sales taxes, revenue from fines generated from red light traffic cameras, and a percentage that previously went to art on transportation-related public works projects. Finally, I-985 doesn't impose tolls, but it institutes critical taxpayer protections if tolls are created and levied.

I1030 will cut property taxes by 30%. There is more information about this initiative at www.taxfight.org

Also, in regards to transportation and choosing where the transportation fund monies should go, I believe that the priorities need to be shifted to improving the many roads and highways that need to be upgraded and expanded because only 3% of us use mass transit, yet over 90% of transportation funds go towards mass transit. It’s obvious that this is the quickest and least expensive way to achieve the traffic congestion relief we all seek.

I hope you will engage in a dialog throughout the remainder of this campaign and help me understand what issues are important to you and what I can do to help improve the quality of life for all residents of the 17th district.

Thank you,
Joseph James

Slaps his forehaead for he missed this post.

Sorry about that. I think I would like to hear his commentary on our threads related to transportation and what ideas he has for cross state traffic into Portland.

As one might guess, I probably have a flood of questions as a protege-apparent of Chief's since he taught me so well how to get a belly full of poliitical knowledge and aim high.

I'll have more questions for you later. Right now Chief and I are personally and totally focused on the Columbia River Crossing project vote that will be happening on Tuesday afternoon.

I'll be out of town but hopefull there will be a recorded online version 24 to 48 hours later provided on CVTV for those who could not attend.

Sounds like a good start Joseph. I do agree that we're in need of some much needed street and major highway improvements along with some tax incentive or soome wayt to pay for it.

I'll take a look at the information you have provided and get back to you on that.

But I do want to make you aware that there is a HUGE concern about the Columbia River Crossing Project that I feel you may be coming late into the discussion on. Don Benton has had some comments on it but I would love for you to have a good read on all the background and primer that Chief and I have built here at Clarkblog from Seattle, Olympia and other huge state sources that are going to be needed to pay for projects that might affect ANY Southwest Washington work that we do here in Cowlitz, Clark, Skamania and Lewis counties that really make up the bulk of the Southwest Washington population and available land to build upon.

You also may be called upon to have an opinion or offer legislation with other Southwest Washington legislators on Columbia River treaty obligations, environmental and port issues (yes, you have multiple Ports near your legislative district, so please bone up and study?) water and power rights and needs, Light rail and transportation, state government agencies that fail to hear the cry of the consumers and constituents.. Its on and on and on.

Please get with Don, Marc Bolt, Brent Boger, Ed Orcutt, Jaime Herrera, Deb Wallace (yeah, she's not on your aisle but she may be of wonderful help to you after the election on transportation issues that she is known ALL OVER washington state for.) and Joe Zarelli, there is a good start on an education for you to learn a whole bunch for good, veteran legislators that I have been watch for a number of years through the state as I have lived.

Cannot forget Bruce Chandler, if you need any knowledge on Washougal, Eastern Washington, or Cascadian Rain shadow issues, please speak to him. Bet you will not get him to stop discussing Columbia River Water Resource issues... ;-p
