http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v645/SeniorChieftain/Summer%20Flowers/beebalm4.jpg HOT RED BEE BALM I moved it out of that pot, separated it, and planted it in a big bed by itself (see above)

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v645/SeniorChieftain/Summer%20Flowers/freshlytilled.jpgI hand dug those beds, sifted out all of the rocks, and then layered it all back in with compost, peatmoss, and compsted manure.

Wait till they bloom! In a month you won't see any soil around those plants....

Went to my local Freddies to check out the sale, I only walked out with a lotus vine!! I guess petunias aren't grabbing me this year?? So I hit the seed racks and came home with some Godetia, Nasturtuim variegated Alaska mix and Lobelia Dwarf rosamond seeds. I don't know what's wrong this year, could be I have to much already??

You have outdone yourself again. Gorgeous!! I am going to have to google 'bee balm'. I never heard of that.

I think it's in the Mint family. The leaves have a very strong aroma when you crush the leaves, and the flowers are pretty spectacular. My sister in law used to brew tea from bee balm.

I also have some low-growing lemon balm in the front flowerbed, and I think that is in the same family...

yes! I thought they looked like mint tea. Mint tea, fresh brewed is very popular locally. Everybody brews it.

That's a closeup from last summer, so you can see how spikey the flowers are. They look kind of dull until the sun hits them and they immediately become irridescent....

Not yet. They bloom later in the summer. They are over four feet high though...

See I don't do annuals. Want to hear a funny, some lady in the store today asked me if I was the lady that was in the Columbian today that supposed stole some baskets some place. Both the lady behind the counter and I looked really puzzled at her?? Then the lady behind the counter stated I should give her my website so she could see what I grow as I politely told this lady, no. If I bought home any baskets I think my DH would shoot me! Now I have to find that story to see what I didn't do? ;D
