A masked man shot his way into a Vancouver credit union this morning, robbed it and escaped.

The robbery was reported shortly after 9 a.m. at Northwest Navigation Federal Credit Union, 815 W. Fourth Plain Blvd.

According to the first police radio reports, a man fired two or three shots into a door as he gained entry to the credit union. Three employees inside the building took refuge on the floor. No injuries were reported.

He was described as a slim adult man, about 5-feet-8-inches tall, wearing a dark blue mask with holes around the eyes and black leather gloves. He used a small black handgun.

A passer-by reported seeing a man leaving the credit union. He said the man was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans, and was carrying a black parcel. It was not confirmed that he was the robber.

Police have descended upon the area.

It was the second Vancouver credit union robbery in two days. About 1:45 p.m. Monday a man held up a branch of Peoples Community Credit Union, 16211 S.E. 12th Court.

Local radio is all over this as well. This is the fourth such robbery in the past week, and the third in three days in this area! We have a real problem on our hands here...
