SEATTLE -- Sound Transit may ask voters in King, Pierce and Snohomish counties to approve a sales tax hike to expand light rail in the Seattle area and make other transit improvements.

The Sound Transit board is considering options for a package about half the size of the $18 billion roads and transit plan rejected last fall by voters.

The agency will decide in July whether to go to the ballot this November.

Increased tolls in July for the Tacoma Narrows Bridge and now the chance of a large sales tax measure in November on top of it; there is no end to the subsidies that transit must have in order to survive.

And think about how much sales tax revenue we are talking about in the three primary counties that make up Pugetopolis. That's a lot of money.
