I have sent this list of questions out to the County Commission candidates that I have e-mail addresses for. I've requested written responses, in 100 words or less for each question.

As the answers come in I will post them in the respective candidate threads here at Clarkblog.

1. Should the Cowlittz Tribe be allowed to build a Casino in Clark County?

2. What should be built, if anything, at the Columbia Crossing of Interstate 5?

3. How would you pay for anything that gets built at the Columbia Crossing?

4. Should part of Camp Bonneville be developed as a National Cemetery?

5. Assuming that the current request for an increase in the Sales Tax to pay for a new emergency radio system fails, what should be the next step to raise the money needed? If voters disapprove a sales tax increase, what should the County Commission consider next?

6. What specific steps will you take as a Commissioner to increase jobs in Clark County?

7. What do you see in the County’s Transportation future via C-Tran and RTC if you are elected County Commissioner?

8. The animosity between Vancouver City Hall and the County Commission dates back many years, and has prevented serious cooperation between the two on many issues. What steps will you take to heal the breach in relations between the County Commission and Vancouver City Hall?

9. What will you do as a County Commissioner to control ever rising residential property taxes in the County?

10. Name the top three most wasteful things that Clark County spends money on, and how you would do things differently.

I thought I should update this subject and mention that I have not yet received a single response to these questions from any of the Candidates. Let us hope they find some time this weekend, as I know all of them have day-jobs too...

Have you sent out a few emails to the campaigns so they do have a chance to respond?

Has it come up done yet?

Ok a few more questions for the candidates..

1) How are you going to pay for each and every transportation project that is needed within this community? Can you come up with an example and how you would do it differently.

2) How are you going to re-organize the Dept. of Community Services, so that it can be more lean and efficient?

3) Same for the Dept. of Health?

4) How are you going to pay for the Columbia River Crossing if it comes back there is going to be a local portion needed to pay for it and tolls won't cover it? Light Rail? (please have two different answers..)

5) Corridors are being planned for the future of Clark County? Where do you see corridors between cities or new growth areas in Clark County?

6) If there is more building up near Upper Lewis River areas Swift Resevoir and in Cowlitz County, how are you going to put roads up to them? (Personally within the next 15 years, this area is going to be developed. its been in the paper that there are several developers interested inthe area.)

7) with some areas South of Battle Ground but north of Vancouver, in the Cascade Highlands, how are going to get the needed County services of water, sewer and planning for new growth up there? (Chief, I think this will be the new growth areas of Clark County outside of Vancouver and Camas.)

8) There may be more tribal casinos and side business in the County? how are you going to welcome them here? Yes, there are going to be more of them as the community grows. I do think there is room for more tribal businesses as the Portland metro area grows. And no, people are going to vehemently disagree with me on the casinos.)
