ROM WIRE REPORTS
Europe is set to significantly increase its involvement with the international space station with the launching of the first in a series of large new spacecraft that will regularly resupply the outpost.
A European rocket lifted off from French Guiana early Sunday on a mission to deliver oxygen, food, water and equipment to the space station. The rocket will carry 21 tons of cargo to the station, according to Arianespace, the commercial arm of the 17-country European Space Agency.
It is the first of nine missions that Arianespace has arranged from the South American country to service the station over the next several years. The Automatic Transfer Vehicles, dubbed Jules Verne after the famous French author, will orbit Earth for a weeklong checkout flight before docking with the space station April 3.

Fascinating story about the next phase of resupply and re-boost for the ISS, after the shuttles are decommissioned.
