This is what Patella sent in to the columbian at the end of last month. You will notice that this isn't even in Letter to the Editore format, yet somehow, an edited version of this appeared in the Letters section of this morning's (Saturday, March 8, 2008) columbian...

Mayor’s State of the City Address

Too bad that Hiz Honor didn’t attend the 15 Neighborhood Forum on Light Rail, which by the way had more participants than his Annual Scolding of those who disagree with him. Had he attended, he would have learned that most in Clark County do not agree with him on more wasteful spending of our hard earned tax dollars.

Like most politicians trying to defend their unpopular actions, Hiz Honor has once again, resorted to attacking the messenger instead of listening to the message.

The Oregonian’s Steve Duin was right on target when he referred to “Building a Bridge to the Past”. But apparently, the $750 million possible federal grant, which has already been picked out of our other pocket, is burning a hole in Hiz Honor’s and Hiz gang of Four’s pockets.

What Hiz Honor failed to discuss during his scolding. Will we get to Vote on this Boondoggle? How many millions/billions of tax dollars will be needed to operate and maintain? What percentage of commuters will use light rail? Does he personally use C-Tran/Max as he moves about the Clark County/Portland area?

We Don’t Need Light Rail the Gravy Train, Do We?

Please Note: For the record, the mis-spelling of Mayor Pollard's name in this article is as it was originally sent by Larry Patella. The mistake is his, not Clarkblog.org's.

Here is what the columbian actually published this morning, March 8, 2008. Note the difference...

Light rail is unpopular idea

Too bad that “Hiz Honor” Mayor Royce Pollard didn’t attend the Neighborhood Forum on Light Rail, sponsored by 15 Vancouver neighborhood associations. There were probably more participants there than at his the State of the City address’ annual scolding of those who disagree with him.

Had he attended, he would have learned that most in attendance do not agree with him on more wasteful spending of our hard-earned tax dollars. Like most politicians trying to defend their unpopular actions, Pollard has, once again, resorted to attacking the messenger instead of listening to the message.

The Oregonian’s Steve Duin was right on target when he referred in his column to “Building a bridge to the past.” But apparently, the possible $750 million federal grant, which has already been picked out of our other pocket, is burning a hole in Pollard’s.

Pollard failed to discuss during his scolding whether we will get to vote on this boondoggle. How many millions/billions of tax dollars will be needed to operate it? What percentage of commuters will use light rail? Does he personally use C-Tran/Max as he moves about the Clark County/Portland area?

We don’t need light rail — the gravy train — do we?

Should we rename it Patella's Annual Scalding?
