View Full Version : Three Creeks Advisory Council selected

If “Three Creeks” was the City of Three Creeks it would rival the size of the City of Vancouver to the south. The Three Creeks area, which includes Hazel Dell, Salmon Creek, Felida, Lake Shore and the county fairgrounds, is urbanized rural Clark County.

It does have organized clout, thanks to Clark County commissioners who created the Three Creeks Advisory Council ostensibly to “assist with transportation, land-use planning and related issues.”

Named to the council are the following organizations and their representatives: Neighborhood Associations Council of Clark County, Dan Bodell: Fire District 6, William Cline; Washington State University Vancouver, Hal Dengerink; Clark Public Utilities, Michael Harris; Clark Regional Wastewater District, Denny Kiggins; Legacy Salmon Creek Hospital, James Spinelli; Hazel Dell-Salmon Creek Business Association, Ila Stanek; and Team 99, Ron Wilson.

Members of the organization at-large are as follows: Jim Carlson, Beth Holmes, Ron Lauser, Vaughn Lein and Bud Van Cleve.

Non-voting ex-official members are John Caton representing Vancouver, Betty Sue Morris, representing Clark County, and Matt Swindell, representing Ridgefield.

Retiring Clark County commissioner Morris will chair the council, which is expected to begin meeting in March.

Sounds good to me! Let's give these people a month or two to get organized, then we'll see just what they all come up with.

Developing...

Sorry Chief, check out the other post. Same old ~ Same old. I have issues with some of these folks being here and they had opportunity on other committee and did nothing! Plus if you are running for an elected Office why are you here?

Chief
02-24-2008, 06:19 PM
What other post?? Linky?

Not sure what your problem is with elected officials, or those who are running being involved in this process.

By the way karma, will you be attending any of these meetings and reporting back to us what the issues are at hand??

Chief, it's a total waste of my time and you know this is a 'CC Done Deal!' Besides these folks are not licensed planners and if you know zoning and GMA you would know this is a total waste of time. Nothing more than dumping by some with personal agendas and do you
honestly think we need this committee or is this another pipe dream by the NA leaders whom have no clue??

Buff, I gave up going to the CC Commissioners meetings long ago because it too is more 'Done Deals.' Let me put it how it was put to me, 'Why do folks waste out time with comments, we know how we are going to vote!' They don't want to deal with the Public!

karma
02-25-2008, 09:00 AM
Hey Chief, isn't this a little over kill??

Clark County Planning Commission
Hazel Dell Re-development Committee
Three Creeks Committee

How many layers of planning do we honestly need again I see NA leaders in this and ya know that isn't what Congress gave them the power to do?? I'm tired of the wasted taxpayer's money when they can't even keep a what was agreed upon with the old Felida Neighborhood Assn on the West Felida Plan?? Iron Maidens' own word is, "we have a new Commissioner in place and we don't have to keep the commitments of the past Commissioners." So if you don't see the waste here, come on out and I'll share with you the cost of the 3 plans and $100,000+ for these plans. The diverting of funds for her 119 Street improvements!! I just love the fact too that she stated, "I put this guy on the road committee because he screamed about the lack of walking sidewalks so maybe he will go away?"

Awe shucks.. I think Karma loves riding on the CC government Ferris wheel and never wants to get off the whine and dine ride.... Around and around the comments go...

karma

Buff, as a taxpayer are you okay with all this waste?

Waterbuffalo
02-25-2008, 10:09 PM
Using your own words or paraphrase, does complaining about X-commisioner or current commissioners actually accomplish any thing?????

karma
02-26-2008, 08:36 AM
Now Buff, you aren't answering my questions.

Yes, it sends a message that they are being watched even if they have their people in place and don't have to deal with the Public. If more folks would voice their concerns instead of sitting in silence this whole world would be different. I see so many folks following the leaders to disaster but again it's your choice to keep paying out of the nose?

Waterbuffalo
02-26-2008, 02:27 PM
Karma may be its one thing I'm doiing differently that you used to do that makes it so much more different. I'm ACTUALLY (using a verb here..) going out and learning what this community needs in the context of a larger clark county.

Not JUST the City of Vancouver's small efforts but a whole region and legion of cities that encompasses a huger area than just the more softer and southern underbelly of the Clark County that seems to be repeatedly complained about.

I'm not a person that can sit around and complain vociferously here or any of the other Clark County boards without putting "action" behind those words.

I think being part of the silent majority of Clark County is a choice that each individual has to make for themselves. If its just because they have to work three jobs and has no time, I can understand that.

What I can understand is why our goverment chambers are not being flooded with commentary or our government chambers (of so many) are so barely filled or poorly attended.

May be Karma, I'm a person who is a silent but effecitve participant in my democracy. I'm not one who just thinks that Clark County is a "Done Deal." You've had 30 years of BS behind you to feel the way you do. I've got 20 years of history here and I'm trying to make sense out of all the new changes that are coming down the pike.

I am not willing personally to let a government run me over with a steam roller without saying some thing. If you watch our board as your a founding member, you'll see each member has a steak with raw bone "issue" in his or her mouth.

Karma, I don't always answer your commentary because a lot of times I see it go this way and that way OR I don't have your background to comment. So I never know how to answer you.

karma
02-27-2008, 10:01 AM
Buff, if it goes one way it can go a thousand ways as they are all linked to come common ground here in Clark County! Done Deals are a dime a dozen and ya know they aren't going to change or listen to folks. All one can do is say 'I told you so!!' Hey it's more like 40 years if you are really counting and the taste it leaves here is bitter! It's called envy and stupid growth to get back at some folks!! This council is a waste and again these folks have an agenda!

I had a couple visitors this past weekend and they both were shocked at what has been done so far in just a couple weeks of warmer weather. We have several plants in full bloom now! Hope you enjoyed your little fun time and now can get out tomorrow to a nice shiny day with some sun and get more gardening work done.

Do you use newsprint as weed killer or cover?

karma
03-04-2008, 08:30 PM
Buff, newsprint is used in the fall when creating a new bed, it kills everything it covers. It also is great bird cage liner and works great when shredded for those small critter animals to make their beds, right Chief?

Buff when folks don't have a clue in moving traffic or people and they keep adding to the population without a clear vision, we all get screwed in the long run. One needs to fix the old problems and stop the bandaid approach?

Chief
03-05-2008, 01:56 PM
keep talking karma. If the City of Vancouver annexes you, you'll never have to worry about another problem up there again, because every available development dollar will head downtown. What's more, once the City has you annexed, they can boost their borrowing power based upon the value of your house.

Keep talking...

Well I don't hear how the other option is going to solve any problems, look they already screwed us with this Pork (Park) Bond and we all know that was for their soccer folks. It was a hoot to see the ballots going back out so folks could sign them, a big no no in my book but we know who was behind that, don't we? I really don't see any option and it's still going to be neglect either way, right? There is a serious lack of leadership on all parts.

Chief, turn off the virtual and internal vibrator running in your head.........

Karma, we need background information when your going to post political notions from stuff that might have happen 10 to 20 years ago. Not all of us where around or have such background.

Running one long line sentences with no background for the general readers here who don't have the background and knowledge of what your speaking of confuses a number of us.

If you could like to some information OR may be give us some background on what your saying so that not just I, Chief, tefen or the regular readers but for the rest of the people who will be coming here via Google or Yahoo can understand what your saying.

So you like the WWW, heck I've been called a witch for so long I just thought it was fitting?

Hi all. I used to be registered here as cc4romney, and was playing campaign shill in one of the other areas. Since that's over, I'm switching to a new name here, and this is the first thing I've wanted to comment on.

To karma - you've obviously been in the area for a long time, but I really have to ask why in the world does a vote from a decade ago matter today? The area is not what it was then, there's clearly been a ton of growth. I agree with Chief and WaterBuffalo, please explain your position for us (relatively) new residents.

Waterbuffalo

Why thank you Fisticuffs! :-)

karma
03-09-2008, 10:57 AM
Fisticuffs, to answer your question it's the same old same old.

If you do follow that is really going on here you will know nothing has really moved forward in a positive light, just adding more to the population without fixing the errors of the past.

A prime example is the Kline Bridge, (Klineline Bridge...Chief) they applied bandaids to the problem until it was unsafe while allowing more stormwater to the area.

There is more to say but you still have the same key players and one that I'm betting wants to be Mayor.

They are not looking at smart growth but Highway 99 will become another Airport Way!! We have one person to thank and she has a personal agenda, just watch!!

More growth isn't a good thing when you neglect the needs of the citizens that elected you? Beside you have some folks out there that weren't duly elected and they think they can run the show!! They are costing this area big time, just follow the money and the agendas of these folks.

I don't see an improvement just more mess of the past.

The vote 10 years ago was the prime time to move forward if this area was to stand on it's own but the more I see those key players, the more I see the City of Vancouver's points as to why we should join them??

Do the research and don't believe the hype. I have lots of the old doc as no one wanted to keep this as history, why?

Waterbuffalo
03-09-2008, 05:53 PM
Thank you Chief...

And to Karma, Thanks for a good example..

Thanks Chief, I had my mind on the garden this AM and not enough time to check what was typed until now. Some of us old timers have pet names for areas and it might not be known to some of the newbies.

If one would annex to the City of Vancouver, wouldn't it be wise to do it now? Look at all the taxes issues and this area folks want to be a city so let's just tax for those services? Silly isn't it when we could be a part of a City and be second largest plus have more pull at the state level?? We would also need a better setup on the Gov. but ya know that isn't going to happen is it? The 'Powers that Be' don't want to hear what someone has to offer, they just want certain players at the table to push the agenda of few. Catering to those who have the money and those that have not are the ones that foot the bills.

Anyone remember where they buried the old wooden NW 36th Avenue bridge?

Fisticuffs
03-09-2008, 09:11 PM
Why would being the second largest city result in more pull with the state? I don't see the correlation. And why should we just jump in with Vancouver, and essentially let downtown and the east part of town debate which scraps to feed us and how much to tax us? It shouldn't matter what personal agendas these council-folks may or may not have, the idea should be discussed on its own merits and faults, whatever they may be. I don't see why it matters if Bettty Sue wants to be mayor - if you don't like they way she does things vote against her if she runs. Why should that have any bearing on whether it's better to independently incorporate or get annexed?

Waterbuffalo
03-09-2008, 11:37 PM
Fisticuffs: What you don't realize is there is an entrenched bureaucracy in Hazel Dell and Clark County that Karma rails against for nearly 1.5 to 2 years I have read Clarkblog. She goes on to explain a lot more things about the two entrenched governments of Clark County. One being Clark County itself and the other being the City of Vancouver.

There probably have been several attempts to clear them out. But all have failed for some reason or another.

There was an attempt about the time I left in 1996 or so to see if Hazel Dell and said areas around it wanted to leave the protection of unincorporation and join the City. It was resoundingly defeated from what my memory of it was.. Our sweat Karma can fill the blanks with her comments here.

I don't remember ever seeing any commentary about Betty Sue ever wanting to be mayor of any town to the North. But heck, now she's retiring from the board in less than nine months, who knows.. May be she's parading herself around to become it.

Fisticuffs, just so your aware, our resident Clark County expert has many different issues, background information and thought on the subject. She has lived in the County longer than I and has a different perspective than I do.

Twice now she's been proven right by her comments when I faced Betty Sue Morris and the other two commissioners. So maybe I am listening to what she has to say before just throwing the comments into the BNSF car that runs past her house.

Politics are not easy here. If you read our archives, you'll see how much work Chief, tefen, Karma and I do to keep up with issues. I'm almost daily reading some piece of a PDF or watching the CVTV archive of a piece of video that has been posted that day.

Some of it your reading here as rolling commentary we all do here to keep ourselves informed of what is going on.

Hey Buff, I tried to send you a private message saying thank you but you don't want to hear it. I would also save your breath as I am starting to learn, let the ship sink and those that follow will either move away or sink themselves? They don't want to hear from us and I just love how they love to take credit for doing something that folks did long ago and pass it off as their own idea. See why it's time to be silence? My Gov. Professor would be so proud of me and he thought I was a sleep in the back of the class?
