The latest kerfluffle that I've been hearing far too much about (via my private e-mail!!!) is in reference to Neighborhood Associations, is the group of NA's who are having a Columbia River Crossing brief later this month.

First, my Neighborhood Association is not involved, so it does not concern me. If Cascade Highlands NA were participating, I would consider making mention of it, but it is not my responsibility to follow your NA for you.

Next, I don't post things like that from people who have never supported this website in any way, and especially when it is from people who have actively worked against this website. I accept comments like official press releases from public agencies, but that is all.

Next, some of the CAVE surrogates are also members here at Clarkblog and have their own login IDs and passwords, so they are perfectly welcome to come here and post their own stuff. I've been very clear about that for a year and a half, so that is nothing new.

The latest rant is being generated by one of the NA's up here in Cascade Park where some of the most vocal members of the Clark County contingent of CAVE reside. It seems that one of the NA Presidents has her nose out of joint because she asked CVTV to come and tape this event, and CVTV shot them down in flames.

It happens that she is also one of the same people who got the Clarkblog debate coverage by CVTV killed last summer at the Firstenberg Center, so not only should she already know that CVTV wouldn't cover her event, I'm glad that CVTV is being consistent, but more importantly, I owe her nothing.

What really sends me over the edge about this though is not only the unending barrage of personal e-mails from these CAVE surrogates, of stuff they want me to post here at Clarkblog for them, but Kommander KneeKap has weighed in on this too, in one of the three rants that he e-mailed all over hel's half-acre this morning as well...

Are the Light Rail advocates hiding something?

Date: February 14th, 2008

Please the attached:

By an earlier email you were advised of a Forum arranged by some 14 neighborhood association to learn more about the Why, and Cost of the proposed Light Rail into Vancouver,

By the Attached we now find that CCTV (subsidized with your tax dollars) is refusing to broadcast this important Forum. Is it because the tax and spend crowd who support light rail do not want the neighborhood associations and other throughout Clark County to learn about all the facts surrounding this large expenditure of our hard earned tax dollars?

Please read the attached.

L. M. Patella
CDR USN (ret)

WTF?? If someone wants to try and interpret that particular conspiracy theory, have at it.

CVTV is paid to cover only so much, and anything that is outside of their charter is not covered because it is not paid for. The Port of Vancouver has CVTV coverage because they pay for that coverage. Why should the Neighborhood Associations get a free ride? If this is that important, make your case to CVTV, not me.

I guess whatever Larry Patella and crowd decide is a good use of our tax dollars is all that counts, eh??

I'm putting this up in the Soapbox to blow off a little steam this morning. Patella has been at it again, and I'm good and pissed off about a number of things today, so I felt it was important to get some of this out in a constructive manner before I explode...

I'm really sick of the ignorance that passes for informed opinion here in Vancouver at times. This stuff just makes me sick because it is so widely distributed, read, and supported out there in the community.

Unfortunately, if I don't say something about this, it will go uncommented upon and that simply will not do.

If this is the forum I think it is, I've posted about it on Clarkblog already, and have put it on the calendar. So I wouldn't worry about that.

The CVTV stuff... do the "pro light rail" things get on CVTV? I have to admit, I've given up watching it except for when there's something on the city council I want to catch.

CVTV stands for Clark-Vancouver television, and since they fund it, they get the coverage.

CVTV is not some sort of private News television service that should be asked or expected to cover every event in the community, especially Neighborhood Association meetings.

Where do you draw the line? How much of our tax money should go toward expanding coverage of CVTV?? (that's a serious question there if anyone cares to tackle an answer...)

Chief, I have wanted stuff in the community covered and got the same rebuff that they did. CVTV has costs that have to be covered and not every one is going to get a free ride on every community event in Clark County.

If one WANTS a community event covered, go to Fort Vancouver television, www.fvtv.org, take a couple of the community classes (this is required to check out hardware they have.) and go do their own recording of community events. FVTV has its own mini-studio with its own hardware for video editing that any one that has signed up for a session it or is known the FVTV people can get access to.

There are some basic rules and no nonsense rules that one has to follow to get access to the equipment that was purchased from capital funds from Comcast subscribers. Comcast will not pay for M & O of FVTV, but they've been doing ok enough right now to allow its core volunteers to get things done.

Now I don't always agree with the content on the channel but FVTV does operate but it does allows Clark County residents a way to communicate with its citizens outside of the CVTV government channels.

Not going to list all the FVTV rules but if some one is interested in doing some thing with this non-profit or get access to the hardware they have, they can go to www.fvtv.org and read all the information about there.

Or they guys can do what I suggested in another thread, get a cheap website, get a simple video camera that one can download video from, dump it on youtube and embed it on their website. Going to suggest one could do all of this for under $100.

But heck, I don't think any one is TOO smart to do that????

Hope your not too much more steamed Chief. But there are ways they could effectively get their message out instead of sitting behind a mailing list and gossiping about nothing.

One more thing to add to the FVTV thing, there is a HUGE perference to Clark County residents. Only Clark County residents can check out equipment or use the editing stations.

But any one can submit shows in the proper format but those shows are subject to some basic rules and their is a preference that Clark County video before every thing else.

Go to their website for more information.

That's why I have invited these people to come and participate here at Clarkblog repeatedly, but for the most part, the followers of Larry Patella can't pee without directions from him about where and when to squat, and since he officially disapproves of me, so do his followers.

They still have the unmitigated gall to bombard me via my personal e-mail with repeated requests to post their stuff over and over again. I simply cannot repost the stuff that people send me, because I would be inundated by BS from people who are too intelluctually lazy to actively engage in this site, and defend the positions they take, or challenge me on mine.

One very effective way to express yourself is to join in the fray here at Clarkblog. I'm not making shit up here, and I don't rely on just what the columbian publishes for my interpretation of current events like Patella does. I actually attend the meetings and actively participate; which is of course what makes me such a threat to Larry Patella and his followers.

You'll notice that none of them have ever come here to challenge me on my facts...

One more factoid about the NA Prez who is sending that message around WB...it is my understanding that she is a Canuckistani Citizen and can't even vote in this Country; which begs the question of why she's sponsoring a CRCP event in the first place...

Well maybe she sees that the constituents are not being heard?

I "DO" that you, Larry and his Cave-in crows do have some thing similar in common. You both don't want Light Rail in Clark County. The only difference is the facts, figures and implementations both of you are pursuing.

Agree with you..

May be its time to set up filters to move all of their nonsense (according to you) into a special folder in Outlook that also has a filter that every 7 days any thing in there gets deleted. All one would have to do is just traipse into that folder once a week to make sure any important email isn't being forwarded to that box.

Anybody who is on a special list gets like family members, friends or regulars here at Clarkblog would be exempt from the filtering policy.

Have had to do this with my own E-mail boxes. Have about 20 or so. Yes, I do have other interests than Clarkblog.. :-)

Every thing in my email is filtered to boxes, including several of my spam boxes.

Wonder if Tefen or Karma or any one else here has such policies also in their e-mail ahem kludge ahem boxes..
