Havana - Cubans voted for a new National Assembly on Sunday in elections in which 614 candidate contested 614 seats. The opposition boycotted the elections.
Cuban leader Fidel Castro was one of the candidates. His brother Raśl Castro has announced that the new parliament will meet on 24 February, when it will decide whether to elect Fidel Castro to a seventh five-year term. The Cuban leader handed over power to his brother in July 2006 before he underwent gastrointestinal surgery.
