Hi all. Allow me a moment to introduce myself. My name is James Bodell, and I'm the co-chair for Mitt's Clark County Campaign. I met Chief at Rossi's first event down here and he invited me to participate here. Sadly, I never quite got around to posting until now, as we really didn't have much to say or do. Now with the caucuses just a few weeks away, and our man still going strong and looking in good shape, we're getting ourselves in gear.

We're having an organizational/informational meeting (what the heck is a caucus, etc) on Thursday, Jan 24, at 5:00 pm at GOP Headquarters on the corner of Hazel Dell Ave and 78th Street in Vancouver. I'd like to extend an invitation to everyone here to attend, whether you're a Mitt man or not.

I look forward to participating here.

Should we move the discussion over to "national Politics and Issues" Chief? I knpow you and Louis set up a forum for this on the old Clarkblog but don't see it here.

I'd love to hear more here from cc4romney and what he has to say.

Darn, I'm honestly more ignorant of the Reupbulican side than I should be.

Thanks Chief..

Ok, CC4Romney, why should I vote for him? Please tell me some thing I don't know other than "You should just vote for him." or "He's be the best president.."

Also please don't give me any Bill Clinton suave either.. I want some hard, cold facts of why I should vote for him in the primary..

Why should you vote for him? Well, to start, and to borrow a phrase, "It's the economy, stupid." As economic concerns come to the fore of the national consciousness, Mitt Romney is the only viable candidate with real world experience in what creates jobs, what destroys jobs, what builds or undermines economies, and how global markets work. He's turned around hundreds of companies (creating thousands of jobs), saved the 2002 Olympics from PR and organizational disaster to turn a profit, and turned Massachusetts giant budget shortfall into a surplus, without raising taxes. None of the other major candidates can boast such experience (except maybe Rudy, but it looks like he might be out after Florida). I myself first decided he was my man when I realized he was the only one talking about facing the challenge on the horizon of competing with an emergent Asia (this was, heck, maybe two years ago). How's that for a start?

Since I'm not really following too much of the Republican campaigns until the just the past 24 hours. Now that Rudy is out, tell me more?

Economy is just one part of a whole package of things that I consider about a president. There is foreign affairs experience, trade, how they operate under pressure, what kind of military man will this guy be if he's given access to the Bomb codes.

ONE HUGE problem that exists right now in our country is the crumbling infrastructure of highways and economic forces. How is he going to solve these two problems?

There are two of the major decision factors facing a lot OF regions in the US and hits us very close to home in Seattle, Portland and Vancouver. How is he going to go to Congress and get money to all of the states to fix things that need to be taken care of?

And this may mean he is not going to popular with Republicans because their taxes may go up for this or their may no longer be any tax breaks, incentives or other giveaway language. I personally want to see a president that can stand up to BOTH parties and get things done when it needs to happen.

If Romney can show this can happen, I'll consider voting for him in November.
