Unadjusted labor force and employment numbers released by the state Employment Security Department today show that Clark County gained 800 new jobs in the past month, bringing the total number of people who are employed full- and part-time and who are in business for themselves to 196,500.

But because the total workforce increased during February from 208,700 to 211,100, the unadjusted unemployment rate rose from 6.3 to 6.9 percent. A year ago February, the county unadjusted unemployment rate stood at 7.2 percent.

Statewide, the unadjusted unemployment rate for February was 5.7 percent.

The statewide seasonally adjusted unemployment rate, which measures full-time workers, declined in February from 5.1 percent in January to 4.8 percent.
