I do a lot of traveling to Astoria and NW Oregon. About once a month or every two weeks until the flooding and win damage storm, I'd go that way.
There is a wonderful map with web cameras from WashDot and Odot on it about current conditions, whats closed and many other things. I think its better than most of the television versions local to Portland..
