Since there is no definitive on who this might be, I'd like to personally not say either way until the sheriff office investigation is complete.
Here are two articles from the local paper on the subject:

As usual, the columbian didn't waste any time going tabloid on this story either. I read the whole article in the morning papet and it sounds to me like this butcher is a hothead. He sure comes across that way clearly in the story. Of course we don't know the other side of the story yet, because the Police have to conduct a formal investigation, and will not make any statements about what happened until they find out themselves. They won't even confirm the name of the officer involved.
Until the investigation is completed, all we have is a serious accusation that a Police Officer "assaulted" a merchant, made by that merchant himself. All we have is his word on what happened, and his side of the story has some pretty big holes in it from what I read.
But as we know, it's not the fact that matter to the columbian; it's the salacious accusations against a police officer that do. Let's keep in mind that the columbian has no qualms about accusing a cop with only the sketchiest of information, while shielding one of their own reporters (Don Hamilton) from public scrutiny about the details of his potential felony charges, for months.
Same old, same old...

I think you nailed it.. I wanted to give the situation time to be investigated and the appropriate measures to be taken instead of getting into a bluster filled tabloid session.
The story needed to be reported but the salaciousness needed to be cut out of the story but your going to find other members in our community that might agree with me on that.
